The Association of Talent Development (ATD), the world’s largest talent development organization, led the six-month research study on Why Mentoring Matters and the product of this study is a research report and free webinar revealing the findings. ATD surveyed 969 Talent Development Professionals, 47% in leadership roles. The report highlights that “mentoring is a key to many important outcomes crucial to the workforce, including sustained employee development, targeted and individualized feedback, and knowledge transfer.”

  • 59% of respondents state that developing new perspectives is a leading benefit for mentors
  • 36% say that professional development is the main benefit to mentees
  • 50% find that higher employee engagement and retention is the highest benefit of mentoring to organizations
  • 38% state that their mentoring programs are effective for achieving business goals

A free webinar highlighting all the report findings will take place on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 2pm EST. Author of Mentoring Programs That Work, Principle of TERP Associates, Jenn Labin and ATD Research Analyst, Megan Cole will discuss common mentoring program structures, benefits, and objectives. Attendees will also hear recommendations for developing and strengthening their own employee mentoring programs.
