While I was walking out of the cafeteria area, the word “chink” was slung at my back. It hung in the air while I decided what to do. Not wanting to be labeled as a trouble-maker in a new job and not having any other minority colleagues to ask advice from, I continued walking and never said a word about it to anyone.
